Property Description
This charming beach house in La Jolla Shores has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The historic home has unique character and was among the earliest houses to be built in the La Jolla Shores neighborhood.

The living room features open truss ceilings, pegged wooden floors, rustic knotty pine walls, and a wood burning brick fireplace. The room is furnished with a pair of comfortable white canvass down sofas. French doors open on to a covered porch overlooking the west garden. A large flat screen HDTV is included.

Off the living room is a small office with French doors opening on to a brick patio. High speed internet access and Wifi is included.

The original galley-style kitchen has mahogany wood counters, knotty pine cabinets and is equipped with range, oven, dishwasher and refrigerator with ice maker.

The bedrooms are cozy and have beamed ceilings. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, two walk-in closets, and bathroom with tub shower and single pedestal sink. There is a TV in an armoire.

The second bedroom is bright and sunny and has a queen-sized bed and overlooks the south garden and pool.

The third and smallest bedroom has a full-sized bed and diamond-paned windows overlooking the north garden.

The second bathroom has a shower and single pedestal sink.

The family room / dining room is carpeted and has a queen-sized sleeper sofa and armoire with TV. The dining table seats 6. French doors open out onto a brick patio.

The garage fits two cars and has an extra large front-loading washer and dryer set. There are beach cruiser bicycles and a big wagon for hauling your cooler and chairs to the beach.

Outside

The home has three separate gardens and a large swimming pool.

The north garden is enclosed by a white picket fence shrouded by lavender and jasmine. It features an ancient California pepper tree with a rope swing ideal for climbing. There is also a basket ball hoop in the driveway.

The west garden is surrounded by a laurel hedge and features an expanse of grass which is used for volley ball, badminton, bocce ball and croquet matches. It is large enough for the kids to play a game of soccer, flag football or T ball. There is also a zip line for kids under 75 lbs.

The south garden features a large swimming pool adjacent to a brick patio with teak table that seats 8 surrounded by fruit trees bearing lemons, limes, Mandarin and Valencia oranges. There is a small outdoor stone fireplace ("chimenea"), a pair of sun lounges poolside, a stainless steel gas barbeque and a traditional Webber charcoal grill. A ping pong table is also included.

On the east side of the property we have an outdoor beach shower. The home comes with a two person kayak and a couple of soft surf boards. Pull the kayak to the beach on its trolley - the boat launch is near the end of the street.

Location

Just steps to the most fabulous beach in Southern California - La Jolla Shores. It is all are all just outside the door - golfing at Torrey Pines, surfing at Scripps Pier, snorkeling in La Jolla Cove, hang gliding above Black's Beach, scuba diving in the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, hiking Torrey Pines State Reserve, kayaking in La Jolla Bay.

Nearby Restaurants

The house is one block north of Avenida de la Playa where you will find interesting shops, great restaurants and outdoor cafes. The most popular offerings are dining al fresco on the patio of Piatti or at the sidewalk tables of Barbarella. The Italian cuisine of Osteria Romantica is a local favorite. The frozen yogurt bar, the Cheese Shop and Starbucks are nearby. The Shores Restaurant is on the water at the end of the street and the view is as great and the seafood is fresh. Marine Room is one of San Diego's finest restaurants. At the other end of the spectrum is reasonably priced Mexican cuisine at El Charro. You can find anything from omelets to sushi among the many and varied eateries throughout the La Jolla Shores neighborhood.

Nearby Shopping

Fun shops such as Rusty Surfboards, Surf Diva, OEX Dive shop and Ocean Girl can all be found on Avenida de la Playa. La Jolla Shores Market is well known for its prime meats and seafood.

Nearby Attractions

Stephen Birch Aquarium is walking distance. The San Diego Zoo, Lego Land, SeaWorld, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, Balboa Park and the Gaslamp Quarter are all within a short drive.

This home offers parking for two cars in the driveway. In addition, we provide a telephone with local phone service and high speed wireless internet service. A full-size washer and dryer, iron and ironing board are also provided for your convenience. This home has forced air heating but no air conditioning.

We also provide boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, and beach towels, so that you can better enjoy the area the way we do. Plus for families with small children, we provide a pak-n-play crib, highchair, noise monitor and baby gates with the rental of this homes. You can also rent additional items such as a full size crib, jogging stroller, etc. for an additional delivery fee. You can also order food and dairy products to be delivered to the home prior to your arrival. Your order will be charged to your credit card.
